What is a healthy balanced diet? 


No single food contains all the nutrients we need for good health, so it's important to eat a wide variety of different foods each day from the different food groups to enable you to get all the nutrients that your body needs.

The five food groups are:

  1. Fruit and vegetables
  2. Bread, potatoes and other cereals
  3. Meat, fish and alternatives
  4. Milk and dairy foods
  5. Foods containing fat and food & drink containing sugar
