Higher quality and more cost-efficient primary red meat production is a core HCC objective that will be achieved largely through a programme of long-term genetic improvement.

Our work in this field clearly demonstrates a year-on-year enhancement in growth rates, in lean muscle, and in meat yield from the carcase.

In particular, HCC's breeding work has been undertaken through Sire Reference Schemes, Group Breeding Schemes, and Ram Performance Tests.
