Welsh flavour for Thailand celebratory dinner
Beef and lamb will next week be the centre of attention at a celebratory dinner in Thailand to help mark the UK gaining export access to the market.
Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC), UK Trade and Investment and EBLEX will host a reception and dinner at the British Embassy in Bangkok on March 10.
The dinner will coincide with the VIV Asia international trade show, the largest of its kind in Asia, which focuses on animal husbandry and processing, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from March 11 to 13.
HCC Chief Executive Gwyn Howells said: “We are delighted that Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef can now be exported to Thailand.
“This celebratory dinner provides us with an excellent opportunity to showcase the qualities that have earned Welsh Lamb a reputation as a world class brand. HCC works closely with the Welsh Government, Defra and UKTI to open up new export opportunities across the globe, and I am delighted that this partnership has proven to be so successful.”
EBLEX export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said: “EBLEX is committed to helping cultivate new export markets for beef and lamb. There are many opportunities in the Far East and we are delighted that market access to Thailand has been secured, working with the support of Defra and UKTI. Defra and UKTI’s efforts were imperative during the lengthy process to secure export certification.
“There are significant opportunities for the export of premium products to Thailand in both the retail and foodservice sectors. Both the Embassy dinner and our presence at VIV Asia will increase our visibility in the market from the outset. This will hopefully stimulate interest in our products and bear fruit for the entire supply chain.”Back to news listing
