“Sales Up - So Thumbs Up”- Butchers Back HCC Marketing

Welsh Butchers have backed HCC’s seasonal in-store merchandising to promote Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef saying it is “very customer friendly and increases sales.”

Over 230 Butchers’ Club members received point-of-sale kits to support Hybu Cig Cymru-Meat Promotion Wales’ summer and autumn marketing campaigns to promote Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.

“The majority of the butchers said the POS helped increase their sales and some had an amazing impact to report, citing increases of up to 100 per cent,” said Laura Pickup, HCC’s Market Development Manager.

“The average for sales increases was 27 per cent and 90 per cent of butchers quizzed said the kits they received for display were “very good” and the remaining ten per cent “good” - so it was “thumbs up” to the campaign right across the board.”

It was a similar story from the multiple grocers that were involved in the campaign - Sainsbury’s and Tesco - who again recorded their full support. Contents included seasonal recipe leaflets, posters and competition merchandise to win a trip to Antigua.

“Almost all of the butchers that we surveyed - who were all members of HCC’s Butchers’ Club - recommended membership and I would urge any other quality butchers that sell Welsh Lamb or Welsh Beef and are keen to participate in our next season marketing campaign to get in touch with HCC so that we can sign them up,” said Ms Pickup.

In addition to the seasonal promotional materials, members of the club are promoted on HCC’s websites and access PGI labelling advice. The HCC Butchers’ Club is free to join.
