HCC courses aim to help farmers protect profits
Farmers across Wales are being offered free training that could help bring substantial savings to their cost of production.
Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is running a series of carcase selection courses at abattoirs across Wales to increase farmer knowledge of what the market requires from their animals.
The courses will take farmers through each stage of the processing stage from when the animals come into the lairage through to slaughtering and cutting.
Farmers will be given a demonstration on carcase classifying both when the animals are alive and after they have been slaughtered to demonstrate the ideal grades for fat and conformation.
The courses will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday 30th October 2012, Dunbia Llanybydder, Teify Park, Lampeter, Carmarthenshire, SA40 9QE
- Wednesday 31st October 2012, Randall Parker Foods, Dolwen, Oakley Park, Llanidloes, Powys SY18 6LX
- Tuesday 6th November 2012, Dunbia Llanybydder, Teify Park, Lampeter, Carmarthenshire, SA40 9QE
The courses are free but anyone wishing to attend must register with HCC in advance.
Dewi Hughes, HCC’s Project Executive, said “These courses are very useful for farmers and provide them with important advice for their business.
“Knowing when to market your lambs or cattle is essential to getting the best returns for your livestock.”
