Olympians celebrate with Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef
Members of Britain’s heroic cycling team celebrated their success at the London Olympic Games with some delicious Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.
Geraint Thomas, winner of a gold medal in the Team Pursuit event at the Velodrome, hosted a BBQ for members of the cycling team to celebrate a successful event.
Geraint, who is the Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef Sports Ambassador, was joined by other gold medal winners including Britain’s all time leading Olympic Gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy (gold in the men’s team sprint and gold in the keirin), Dani King (gold in the women’s team pursuit), Ed Clancy (gold in the men’s team pursuit and bronze in the men’s omnium), and Steven Burke (gold in the men’s team pursuit).
Geraint said “I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate then having a BBQ with some of my fellow team mates and I would like to thank Meat Promotion Wales for supporting us with some delicious Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.”
Dai Davies, Chairman of Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC), said “Everyone is extremely proud of what Geraint and his team mates have achieved over the last few weeks and we were delighted to offer him some fantastic Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef for them to celebrate their success.”
Geraint was appointed as the Sports Ambassador for Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef in April 2011. His role involves meeting with young people and highlighting the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet and how this relates to sports performance.
