World champion Geraint’s Tour de France jersey to be won
Fancy winning a piece of sporting history?
Visitors to Hybu Cig Cymru’s stand at the Royal Welsh Show will be able to do just that, thanks to the red meat agency’s links with world champion Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas.
Geraint is HCC’s sporting ambassador, helping to promote the message that Welsh red meat forms a vital part of a modern professional athlete’s diet.
The 26-year-old is part of Great Britain’s world record breaking track cycling pursuit team. He is hotly tipped as a future winner of the Tour de France, having worn the white jersey as the best young rider during both the 2010 and 2011 event.
Show goers will have the chance to win the actual Team Sky special edition WWF Tour de France jersey worn by him during the 2011 event.
Geraint has also signed the jersey, which still has his competition numbers attached. The jersey will be on display at the HCC consumer stand throughout the show.
Visitors will also be able to enter a competition to win a £150 voucher for a meal at top chef Stephen Terry’s Abergavenny restaurant, The Hardwick.
Stephen, who will be giving a cooking demonstration on the HCC show stand on Thursday July 26th, is a regular on numerous television food programmes.
He has worked alongside many famous chefs including Marco Pierre White, Michel Roux Jr and Nick Nairn. Earlier this month Stephen won the coveted ‘Catey’ Restaurateur of the Year Award, considered to be the hospitality industry’s Oscars.
Entry for both competitions is easy – visitors can either sign up for the HCC Consumer Newsletter, ‘like’ HCC on Facebook or ‘follow’ HCC on Twitter.
Meanwhile farmers visiting HCC’s industry development stand will have the chance to win a meat voucher by correctly assessing the classification of four lamb carcases that will be on display.Back to news listing
