Chef Luke Thomas serves PGI Welsh Lamb to Celebrities and VIPs backstage at V Festival 2016

Young Welsh celebrity chef, Luke Thomas served PGI Welsh Lamb to celebrities and VIPs backstage in the artist village at this year’s V Festival in Chelmsford, Essex.

Luke’s Generator food stall offered delicious bites including PGI Welsh Lamb, beetroot tacos, sweet potato curry and bourbon glazed pork hotdogs, a taster of the style of food and drink offering Chef Luke has brought to the Generator hostels across Europe; highlighting local cuisines and drawing on street-food influences to provide fresh, shareable food in each location, with a strong connection to the best domestic, regional and neighbourhood flavours.

22 year old Luke, originally from Flintshire in North Wales dished up portions of delicious shoulder of PGI Welsh Lamb cooked in a spicy orange and harissa butter, served with pomegranate, feta cheese and a red onion and mint salad to stars including Made in Chelsea’s Louise Thompson and Ryan Libbey, JLS Aston Merrygold, Conor Maynard, Samantha Harvey, and Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright.

Luke said: “The lamb really was the star of our show, it really blew people away; the flavour and theatre surrounding the cooking”.

The young chef, who has been tipped in the industry as the next Jamie Oliver, was cooking and serving in a dedicated VIP artists’ area at the Hylands Park site in Chelmsford, Essex. It was the second time Welsh Lamb has been served at V Festival.

Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) consumer executive Elwen Roberts said: “We’re delighted that Welsh Lamb went down so well at the V Festival, and thrilled to have worked with Luke again this year who has extensive culinary experience and knowledge beyond his young age.
