HCC appoints UK Market Development Executive to drive Welsh red meat forward in the home market

Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) has appointed a new UK Market Development Executive to take advantage of opportunities to grow the market value of Welsh red meat in the UK.

Emily Davies strengthens the UK Market Development Team at HCC with a wealth of experience and expertise from a background of working within the retail sector.

Emily began her new role in January and the focus of her work will be to build on the relationship between HCC and supermarkets, wholesalers, independent butchers and online retailers in the UK to increase the sales of red meat from Wales in the home market.

Emily said, “I look forward to taking on this challenge and aim to build strong links and growing partnerships across the supply chain whilst keeping the customer’s needs as the central focus of my work.”

The role is increasingly important for the promotion of PGI Welsh Lamb, PGI Welsh Beef and pork from Wales within the retail and food service sector across the UK at a time when the future of access to European markets is uncertain.

Rhys Llywelyn, Market Development Manager at HCC added, “We are delighted to have Emily join the team and take this role forward.  As the majority of Welsh red meat sales are taking place in this market and the concern about European market access to British food products it is important to take every opportunity to grow market value in the UK.”
