HCC Scholarship offers one-off global fact-finding opportunity
Step up Wales’ farmers of the future - Hybu Cig Cymru-Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to boost your skillset on a global fact-finding mission through its prestigious annual HCC Scholarship scheme.
Previous HCC Scholars have visited North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and many other key farming destinations where producer, processor and retailer exemplars discuss innovations that have boosted business, supported sustainability and primed profitability.
“Are there areas of your business that need improving but you’re not quite sure what could help? No matter what size your farm or where you’re from, if you’re keen to learn more and you work full time in the red meat industry in Wales, the HCC Scholarship opportunity could be just what is needed,” said James Ruggeri, HCC’s Industry Development Executive. “You have until 17th June to apply.
“The HCC Scholarship is an opportunity to broaden your horizons and increase your knowledge of the red meat sector well beyond Wales,” said Mr. Ruggeri. “You are funded, up to £3,000, to travel and stay at a country of your choice for between four and six weeks and investigate new and innovative techniques that could be applied to your own business and the industry as a whole.
“In return, you are expected to share your new-found know-how with the industry. As a Scholar, you will report on your adventures and give talks to local farmer groups.
Chair of the HCC Scholarship Association, Eurion Thomas said: “You will join the Scholarship Association - an exclusive “club” of former scholars who have grown into a new role of industry mentors and ambassadors and who often continue their research to take on their knowledge to the next level.
“The red meat sector needs ambitious people of all ages to drive the industry forward in the future. These could be farmers, butchers or members of the processing sector. We would like to hear from all with drive, ambition and the industry’s development at heart.”
