Lamb sales increase in Wales
Sales of lamb in Wales increased during the first quarter of this year, according to figures released by Welsh red meat promotion agency Hybu Cig Cymru.
Household purchases of lamb rose by 2.4 per cent to 1,670 tonnes in the 12 week period to April 15th, said Market Development Executive Emma Jones.
“This was largely driven by promotion of leg roasts by retailers which increased demand during the period,” she said. “Consumer expenditure on lamb in Wales during the quarter increased by 4.8 per cent to almost £13.7 million compared with the same period in 2011.”
