Mediterranean demand for light Welsh lambs

There continues to be a demand for quality light lambs from Wales in Spain and Italy, according to Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).

A series of meetings with customers from the Mediterranean countries have been held on the HCC stand during the opening days of the SIAL international trade fair in Paris.

"We understand the problems faced by producers of light lambs in Wales and have been encouraged by the response we have had from buyers in Spain and Italy," said HCC Chief Executive Gwyn Howells.

"We are working with our processors to identify customers and to grow the international demand for light lambs.”

SIAL is the largest food fair in the world, attracting more than 150,000 visitors to more than 6,300 trade stands.
