Earn a gold medal from family and friends with your own Olympic dishes

With the biggest sporting event of the year now in full swing, is there a better excuse to sample some classic dishes from around the world using seasonal produce that’s available on your doorstep?

Red meat promotion agency Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) will be celebrating the Olympic Games with a winning selection of Welsh Lamb dishes from the competing countries.

HCC’s consumer blog and website – www.eatwelshlambandwelshbeef.com – will be bursting with recipes from across the continents. They can also be found on the Welsh Lamb social media accounts.

Prize winning recipes for Rio have been created by HCC. They include Austrian inspired Welsh Lamb leg steak schnitzels with black cherry relish; Indian favourites such as Welsh Lamb biryani and Welsh Lamb tikka wraps; a Moroccan Welsh Lamb tagine with apricots; and an American delight, Welsh Lamb chops with a sticky BBQ sauce.

“Throw a feast for family and friends during the Olympic Games to show your support for the world’s finest athletes,” suggests Elwen Roberts, HCC’s Consumer Executive. “Welsh Lamb is so versatile and its range of cuts can be used in so many different dishes with international influences.

“However, if you’d rather stick to what you know, you could wave the Welsh flag with a traditional treat such as Welsh Lamb cawl or a Welsh Beef roast dinner – the king of British dinners according to recent survey conducted by HCC.”
