Welsh Lamb burger seeks sales in Parisian promo
Paris may be showing off new season fashions but France’s discerning diners are donning the latest apparel to get their hands on this season’s style accessory - a Rugby World Cup Welsh Lamb burger called the Red Dragon Burger.
PGI Welsh Lamb has teamed up with “RED d’Hippo” restaurants to enable the topical Welsh Lamb burger to feature during the high profile trading weeks of the Rugby World Cup tournament - courtesy of Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).
Two of their trendy central Parisian restaurants will feature the Welsh Lamb burger which will be free to any customers wearing a rugby shirt. The offer is limited to one burger per table for the duration of the tournament (18th September – October 31st 2015).
“Currently RED restaurants offer only 100% French meat, therefore this eye-catching promotion is a radical departure for them,” said Laura Pickup, HCC’s Market Development Manager. “If the promotion works as well as we hope, RED restaurants could keep the recipe on their menus and possibly propose it to the other five RED franchised restaurants. If it really takes off, it may be proposed to another 170 Hippopotamus restaurants as well.”
Not to be outdone, several hundred stylish Welsh fans will be comfortably upstaging their French counterparts by donning the ultimate autumn fashion item - trailblazing match day t-shirts that are truly ‘Bred in Heaven’.
Mrs Pickup added: “On Rugby World Cup match days, we’re giving away on social media a few hundred of these truly exclusive t-shirts, with the PGI Welsh Beef ‘Bred in Heaven’ motif, that was so successful during the Six Nations Campaign earlier in the year.
“It’s a forerunner to our new PGI Welsh Beef commercial which will air during October and November for four weeks in the run up to Christmas.
“We’re all delighted that the England game showed that it’s Welsh Beef that has the edge over its rivals.”
