Porc.Wales ambassadors champion at Spring Festival

An impressive display of pigs from across the country was on show at the Spring Festival last weekend where Porc.Wales ambassadors came out on top.

The Champion of the Welsh Pigs was the pride and joy of Huw and Ela Roberts of Oinc Oink, a family business based near Pwllheli. They have a herd of 30 Pedigree Welsh Pigs and are featured on the Porc.Wales website.

“We were very pleased that our Porc.Wales ambassadors were presented with prizes at the Spring Festival this year and rewarded for their excellent efforts,” said Melanie Cargill, UK Market Development Officer at HCC. “This was first class recognition for the quality pigs and pork produced in Wales. It was made even more special by the fact that the pig section received a record number of entries.

“The Spring Festival was an excellent opportunity to promote Porc.Wales and recruit new producers for the website. We also enjoyed presenting rosettes to the winners of HCC sponsored classes.”

Porc.Wales is a website dedicated to the pork sector that was created by HCC and launched at the Royal Welsh Show in 2015. It links consumers directly with pork producers and butchers, enabling them to source pork produce locally. It includes the details of 50 registered producers and butchers as well as recipes, a blog, information on pork cuts and health and nutrition.
