HCC staff put their money where their mouth is for Sports Relief

Strict training for all concerned for weeks before the big day helped Hybu Cig Cymru-Meat Promotion Wales staff and friends raise more than £180 for Friday evening’s Sports Relief telethon.

Members of staff took up Mary Berry’s Great Sports Relief Bake-Off challenge to bake cakes in their spare time and sell to colleagues. It proved to be such a resounding success that internal sales reached more than £50 a week during the month-long promotion.

“There were no easy options for us, such as those taken by Eddie Izzard, in running a few marathons to encourage mass donations. Our team of athletes worked themselves into a selfless crescendo of baking and cake eating,” said HCC Baking Development Co-ordinator, Deanna Leven. “Everyone was so enthusiastic it was a piece of cake to arrange and once the new bakes appeared in the office they went like hot cakes.

“Now we’ve reached our goal of £180.80p, the team are warming down on biscuits and preparing for their next sporting challenge for charity,” said Mrs. Leven.
