Dubai link bids to boost Welsh Lamb exports to top venues

Key Welsh red meat industry exporters joined more than fifty of Dubai’s influential high end purchasers in a HCC hosted networking event to boost PGI Welsh Lamb exports.

“Our aim was to invite Dubai’s important decision makers from the top venues in their local food industry to sample premium PGI Welsh Lamb and to meet some of our leading players who are very interested in exporting to the Middle East,” said Deanna Leven, Export Market Development Executive at HCC.

Businesses, including high end hotels and resorts, wholesalers and small, independent and multiple retailers met British Ambassador Mr. Paul Fox and his wife Vicky, who welcomed the guests to the Radission Blu Hotel, Deira Creek, Dubai.

A wide range of Welsh Lamb dishes were on offer to the guests, including starters such as herb tomato bread topped with pan fried Welsh Lamb loin and Welsh Lamb spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce and main courses of confit of Welsh Lamb shoulder and rack of Welsh Lamb.

“The evening stimulated many promising discussions and we’re hopeful that good business relationships have been established that will prove fruitful to the future Welsh Lamb export market,” said Ms. Leven.
