Roadshow aims to protect against worms
Two events will be held this month to help farmers form a strategy to combat the effect that worms can have on their sheep flocks.
Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) will be hosting evening events in Llanrwst (11th July) and Welshpool (12th July) to highlight the negative impact that worms can have on livestock and profits.
Worms can reduce lamb growth rates by up to 50 per cent without showing any clinical signs.
The events will feature sheep consultant Lesley Stubbings and veterinary sheep specialist Chris Lewis and will focus on:
- Effective worm control
- New treatments
- The impact of wormer resistance
- Effective Quarantine methods
Lynfa Davies, HCC’s Technical Development Executive, said: “Worms can have a serious impact on the profitability of a business.
“Wormer resistance is also becoming a major problem in Wales and by attending these meetings farmers can learn more about effective strategies to combat worms and reduce resistance.”Back to news listing
