Historically, the ability to farm in harmony with the natural environment has been a major strength of Welsh livestock agriculture. Farmers play an important and active role as guardians of our outstanding landscape, and agriculture is also the key to effective environmental outcomes such as carbon capture and flood prevention.
In many ways, ensuring that livestock agriculture is both sustainable and efficient are mutually reinforcing aims. The ways in which the red meat sector can address these imperatives have been outlined in A Sustainable Future: the Welsh Red Meat Roadmap.
