Europe’s finest will be served to Europe’s finest at a special Welsh Government sponsored St David’s Day evening reception for leading dignitaries at the Bibliotheque Solvay in Brussels on 2nd of March. It will also be served at a Welsh business dinner for Europe’s business leaders on the 3rd of March, hosted by the UK Ambassador.
Among the 250-strong invitees to the Welsh Government’s event are representatives from European Governments and businesses, the European Parliament, the Welsh Society and officials from the European Commission. Attending the Welsh business dinner, held at the ambassador’s residence, will be senior officials from leading businesses in Europe.
The hungry exiles of the St David’s Society of Hong Kong experienced a true taste of home at their Annual Ball where they enjoyed prime PGI Welsh Lamb, courtesy of HCC, and were serenaded by BBC Wales’ Phil Steele and the Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir. Lucky raffle winners also went home with HCC’s Welsh Lamb recipe books and other Welsh Lamb valuables.
At home, Wales’ special day will be marked by HCC with a social media competition to share a photo of a #ViewfromaFarm for a chance to win a selection of bilingual farm-themed children’s books. HCC’s consumer site - www.eatwelshlambandwelshbeef.com/en - will provide plenty of encouragement to “Celebrate St David’s Day with Welsh Lamb”, promoting recipe ideas such as Welsh Lamb Cawl, Welsh Lamb and Spring Veg Broth, Spring Minted Leg of Welsh Lamb, Welsh Lamb and Rosemary Stuffed Leeks and Welsh Lamb shoulder with leeks and stuffing.
More recipes will appear in popular journals like Yours, Woman’s Own, Take a Break and a wide variety of local papers around the patron saint’s day. HCC’s specially created recipes include Welsh Lamb Cassoulet, Welsh Lamb shoulder with Leeks and Stuffing and St David’s Day broth.
