Imran Nathoo, the innovative chef who starred on BBC’s Masterchef series, is partnering with Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) and one of Cardiff’s top pizza joints to bring a new popup dining experience to the Welsh capital’s foodies.
On Sunday, 2 July, Imran will be taking over the kitchen of the Dusty Knuckle restaurant in Canton to give guests a fabulous combination of innovative flavours of which the star of the show will be his own unique take on a lamb kebab.
“I’m delighted to serve Welsh Lamb kebabs as the centrepiece of this special supper club,” said Imran. “It’s my homage to this household favourite! A shoulder of PGI Welsh Lamb is cooked overnight, shredded then crisped up in Dusty Knuckle’s wood burning oven. It’s then served with mint yogurt, pickled red onions and my home-made chilli sauce.”
Imran added, “There will be local beers on tap and a range of natural wines to purchase. I will be hosting two sittings one at 5.30pm for two hours followed by another sitting at 8pm. I had a blast putting this menu together. It's fun but packs in the flavour!”
“PGI Welsh Lamb is not only superb in terms of quality, but it’s hugely versatile in terms of the different ways it can be cooked,” said Owen Roberts of Hybu Cig Cymru. “There are so many ways to enjoy it – from traditional roasts to quicker 30-minute meals, and indulgent slow-cooked recipes like Imran’s kebabs.”
“Imran’s cooking lets the flavour of the meat speak for itself, and his menu sounds really exciting” he added. “We’re pleased to be partnering with him on this popup venture in Cardiff, and we’re also looking forward to welcoming him to the Royal Welsh Show in late July, where he’ll be a star of our cookery theatre, showcasing even more ways of preparing the finest Welsh Lamb as we gear up for our summer promotional campaigns.”
