ight celebrities will experience a taste of the Welsh language, Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef during S4C’s reality TV show which returns to our screens next week.
The stars who signed-up for Cariad@Iaith and a week of intense language lessons were Derek Brockway, Tom Shanklin, Steve Speirs, Nicola Reynolads, Chris Corcoran, Caroline Sheen, Rebecca Keatley and Jamie Baulch.
As part of their efforts to learn Welsh in a week, the celebrities were faced with a daily challenge. These included pizza decorating and a burger and faggot making competition with Elwen Roberts, Consumer Executive at Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).
“I worked with Tom, Steve, Caroline and Rebecca to prepare some lovely Welsh Lamb faggots and Welsh Beef burgers. Tasty pizzas with a Welsh Lamb topping were made by all the contestants,” said Mrs Roberts.
“A variety of other ingredients from Wales were used, and the celebs were very keen to impress me with their cookery skills! Presenter Wynne Evans reportedly enjoyed the Welsh Lamb faggots, and the stars made a huge effort to speak Welsh. It was a lot of fun!
“We were very excited to be involved in the filming of such a popular series and it was an excellent opportunity to promote Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef to a large consumer audience.”
This is the seventh series of Cariad@Iaith, with past contestant Wynne Evans presenting alongside tutors Nia Parry and Ioan Talfryn.
Cariad@Iaith will be aired on S4C every night from June 14th with the final taking place on Saturday, June 20th, when the series winner will be announced.
Elwen Roberts will feature on two programmes being broadcast on June 15th and June 19th.
