The winning Welsh Breakfast Meat Hamper at this year’s Royal Welsh Winter Fair was awarded to J.A Vaughan’s Family Butchers from Flintshire. The event was sponsored by Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) and took place on Tuesday 28 November.
The winning hamper included meats such as traditional pork sausage, Welsh dragon pork sausage, home cured bacon, home cured streaky treacle bacon, homemade black pudding, farm eggs and a Christmas muffin mix.
Reflecting upon their success, Helen Vaughan stated: “This is the first time we have competed in the hampers section of the Winter Fair and it was a great experience for us. We’re really pleased with the outcome - it means that we can produce more hampers ready Christmas now!”
Kirstie Jones, Market Development Officer at HCC added: “We are delighted to sponsor this event and it’s great to see such high quality produce. I’d like to express my congratulations to Helen and everyone at J.A Vaughan’s Family Butchers and to the other butchers who also competed – the hampers look fantastic!”
Fellow competitors in the Breakfast Hamper section included Mr Adrian Walker from Golden Valley Meat and Game in Monmouthshire and Catherine Butler from Hugh Phillips Butchers in Gower.
