Welsh Lamb Curry Raises £1500 for soldiers’ charity

A special event held at the top Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias restaurant has raised over £1500 to support injured soldiers, veterans and their families.

ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity raises hundreds of thousands of pounds across the UK every year through its Big Curry nights in order to support service personnel at times of need.

Former Welsh Guardsman Stewart Harris was helped by the charity when he was injured in Afghanistan in 2012. To help families in a similar position he enlisted the help of chef Bryn Williams, and Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) to hold a special Welsh Lamb curry at Bryn’s Porth Eirias bistro.

Dozens of guests enjoyed a fabulous Welsh Lamb dish with tasty accompaniments, listened to special guest speaker Sergeant Rick Clement, and raised money by bidding for outstanding auction prizes including sporting memorabilia.

HCC Marketing Officer Kirstie Jones said, “HCC were proud to support ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity and Bryn Williams in putting on the Welsh Lamb curry night. Despite the snow, an excellent number of people came to support the dinner, and gave very generously. I’m delighted that over £1500 was raised to support injured servicemen, their families and veterans.”

Bryn Williams said; “When Stewart Harris approached us to support a special Big Curry event, we were only too pleased to help. Everyone enjoyed the occasion, and it’s great to have raised so much to support service personnel in their time of need.”
